THE TRUTH ABOUT SARGENTI N2
ABOUT ROOT CANALS
Efficient root canal treatment was developed by Dr. Angelo Sargenti.  He presented this modern, efficient, and painless root canal procedure to American Dentists in Dallas, Texas in 1958

N2 Now The Preferred Root Canal Treatment

in Sweden

Four Swedish dentists, Drs. Niels Norsell, B. Cederbloom and Stefen and Bengt Nordstrom, have succeeded in having the Swedish Board of Welfare reverse their ban on the use of N2 Root Canal Sealer in Sweden.

For years the endodontic specialists have used their influence in only allowing conventional root canal sealers to be used in Sweden.

The Swedish Board of Welfare have now enough evidence to show that conventional root canal has high failure rates, but has cost the Board of Welfare large sums of money to pay for these root canal treatments, which have resulted in wasted money and large numbers of tooth extractions.

Evidence has now been accepted, that using N2 treatments is more successful in root canal treatments, but would have resulted in a higher success rate, less health risks and at less cost to the Board.

The following information was recently published in Sweden.

Root Canal Treatment for Everybody

In most European countries, the general practitioner in the daily routine has to deal with a root canal problem. Treatment is time-consuming and difficult. Out of this reason, a special dentist group has developed in certain high-class and rich markets, that is the endodontists specialized in treating the root canals with special knowledge and good success. The only problems are the high price, which is needed, and the fact that social security ensured people cannot pay for this treatment. For this reason, general practitioners in most European markets use a fast and easy treatment by quick cleaning of the canal followed by filling with a spiral drill (lenrulo) with a root canal cement, or better called root canal sealer, by the name of N2. N2 contains a very low rate of formalaldehyde, not more than you'd find in a large glass of milk. Unluckily, over the years decisions were made in certain markets to ban this product and take the possibility away from general practitioners to treat the public with this procedure having been used throughout Europe for over 50 years.

This did not matter to people who are able to pay for the endodontist treatment. The fast N2 technique used by 10,000 dentists was excluded in certain markets, e.g. in Sweden, partially in Poland and possibly in other markets. Now the decisive government agencies have recognized this problem and have officially reinstated the N2 technique with an official announcement in the Swedish Dental Journal.

We think that with this move the state will save a lot of expenses because instead of extracting the root canal infected tooth, the general practitioner will start trying to save this tooth to avoid any high-price crown and bridge work in the future.

N2 UNIVERSAL ROOT CANAL SEALER WAS AND IS THE ONLY ROOT
CANAL SEALER SUBMITTED TO THE FDA FOR APPROVAL.  THE
APPROVAL HAS PROGRESSED TO PHASE III, THE FINAL STEP BEFORE
APPROVAL.  NO OTHER ROOT CANAL SEALER HAS EVER APPLIED FOR
FDA APPROVAL.

MORE MISLEADING INFORMATION

A website known for misleading, inaccurate,  and just plain wrong statements about Sargenti N2
recently posted misinformation stating "Chicago Dental Society cancels AES/Sargenti clinic tables
at 2011 Midwinter Meetings."

THE TRUTH  The Chicago Dental Society cancelled ALL table clinics
at their 2011 meeting.

How's that for manipulating the truth!

AS REPORTED BY THE AMERICAN ENDODONTIC SOCIETY
Bisphenol-A is in many popular root canal sealers but it is not
in N2.  The amount is not the question, it is accumulative.
It is banned in Canada and the United States FDA is checking
into it.

The January 2010, Issue No 120, page 2, and the Winter 2009
Issue 117, AES Newsletters have articles on this carcinogen
that causes breast cancer, impotence, and possibly many
other cancers.

  sets stage for more bans

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada has declared bisphenol A
to be a toxic chemical, prompting calls for far-reaching
curbs on the industrial chemical that is used in
everything from the linings of aluminum cans to coatings
on electronic till receipts.

MISLEADING CLAIM:  Sargenti paste still widely used despite controversy,
DrBicuspid.com
TRUTH:  Based on our research, many dentists believe that the use of
Sargenti Paste is widely supported and used worldwide.  It is the largest
user of any root canal sealer in Europe and approved by the EU
MISLEADING REPORT:  NBC 10 in Philadelphia Report on a dental
patient that on aired September 24, 2009 Embalming fluid has
5 - 29% formaldyhyde... The most widely used formulations of Sargenti
Paste include 6.5% formaldyhyde. There is no doubt that Sargenti Paste
was the cause of the dental patient's damage. Her dentist testified to
using it on her under oath.

TRUTH:  The patient's dentist did testify to using it but admitted
it was not the cause of the problem.  Expert witness in the case,
Dr. Wahl, said that Sargenti Paste was definitely NOT the cause of
the problem.  The case was settled out of court.  Sargenti Paste
was not determined to be the cause of the problem.
Misleading Claim:
AES Removes Newsletters from Website; Cancels 2009 Meeting
The SOS' efforts to stop the use of Sargenti Paste have likely resulted in
the removal of AES Newsletters from their website thus reducing the risk
of dentists being swayed by the misinformation published in those
newsletters. The 2009 Annual Meeting which would have been held at
the same time and place as the ADA convention was cancelled. The
2008 annual meeting was attended by a mere dozen or so dentists.

TRUTH:  AES (American Endodontic Society) Newsletters are
mailed to all of the Society's members, as well as select dental
schools and American Dental Association staff.  The AES held a
successful, well attended, meeting in 2008. The meeting was held in
conjunction with the American Dental Association's Annual
Session.  The 2009 annual meeting was held successfully in
Honolulu, Hawaii in October 2009, again  in conjunction with the
American Dental Association's Annual Session.
